Who is responsible

Recepture is offered by DV Development & Consultancy, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 74819321. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

Questions about privacy go to dennis@dvdc.dev. All our details are on the contact page.

What we collect

We only collect what Recepture needs to work, plus what you add yourself.

  • Account details: your email address, your name and details about your account and subscription. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them.
  • Settings: such as your language, units, household size and dietary preferences. Some dietary preferences, such as halal or kosher, can say something about your religion. You don’t have to set them.
  • Your content: recipes, photos, meal plans, shopping lists, cookbooks and what you share.
  • Chef Pip’s notes: short notes about your taste, such as ingredients you’d rather avoid. You can review and delete them in Settings.
  • Payments and subscriptions: details about your subscription and payments, such as amounts, dates and the terms you accepted. You pay through Mollie on the web or through Apple in the iPhone app. We don’t store your full card or account number.
  • Usage and security: how often you use the AI features, which service emails we send you, changes our team makes to your account and technical details about errors.
  • Analytics: only if you agree, how Recepture is used.

Why we use it

We use your data only for the purposes below, each with its legal basis under the GDPR.

  • To provide Recepture (performance of our contract with you): your account, your recipes on all your devices, sharing, the AI features, service emails and payments.
  • To keep Recepture safe and reliable (our legitimate interest): fixing errors, preventing abuse and applying your plan’s limits.
  • To understand how Recepture is used (your consent): only after you agree. On the web you withdraw consent through ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of our public pages, in the iPhone app through ‘Share usage analytics’ in Settings.
  • To tailor recipes to dietary preferences that can reveal your religion, such as halal or kosher: we use them for nothing else, and you can remove them in Settings at any time.
  • To meet our legal obligations: we keep payment records for as long as tax law requires, which is seven years.

Service emails, such as payment receipts and the reminder before your free trial ends, are part of the service, not marketing.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Chef Pip and other AI features

When you use an AI feature, such as talking to Chef Pip or importing a recipe, we send only what that feature needs to our AI provider, for example your message, the recipe and photos you upload. We don’t send your name or email address.

Our AI provider is OpenAI. All AI processing takes place in the EU.

AI output can be wrong. The terms explain what that means for you.

Who helps us

These providers process personal data on our behalf:

  • Apple
  • Cloudflare
  • Expo
  • Hetzner
  • Mailgun
  • Mollie
  • OpenAI
  • PostHog
  • RevenueCat
  • Sentry
  • Zitadel

Where data is transferred to a country without an adequate level of protection, this happens only with the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and storage

We use no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers.

  • Necessary: cookies and storage that keep you signed in, protect sign-in, remember your preferences and make the app work. These don’t need your consent.
  • Analytics: only with your consent. If you decline, nothing is stored for this.

You can change your choice at any time through ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of our public pages.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we erase your profile, settings and content.

Some data we keep longer:

  • Payment records: seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
  • Security and service email logs: at most 400 days.
  • AI usage data: after you delete your account, only as anonymised counts.
  • Error reports and analytics: for a limited time, no longer than needed.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • see the personal data we hold about you (access);
  • have incorrect data corrected;
  • have your data erased: delete your account in Settings › Account, or email us;
  • take your data with you: ask us at dennis@dvdc.dev and we’ll make a copy available for you to download (portability);
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interest, or ask us to restrict processing;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what happened before.

To use a right, email dennis@dvdc.dev. We reply within one month. If you’re not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Minimum age

Recepture is for people aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

Contact

For anything about privacy, email dennis@dvdc.dev. All our details are on the contact page.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the version and date at the top of this page. If a change matters for how we use your data, we tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
